Born in 1985 to a factory worker father and a librarian mother, Slade grew up in the echo of the city's grunge revolution, sneaking into dimly lit clubs to witness the raw fury of Nirvana and Pearl Jam. By his teens, he was trading textbooks for a battered Fender Stratocaster, forming his first band in a cluttered garage amid stacks of vinyl records that chronicled the Northwest's defiant spirit.

After a stint in community college studying literature—where he devoured Kerouac and Bukowski—Slade dropped out to chase the music that burned inside him. His journey took him through dive bars and open mics, honing a sound that fused melodic hard rock with the gritty edge of 90s grunge.
